On a cool, overcast morning Pack 1 gathered outside Conant Elementary School for a Geocaching Adventure! This activity was organized by Acton BSA Scout Troop 1 and we are very grateful for their help. The BSA Scouts helped the Cubs understand how to use the standard mapping apps on a cell phone - such as Google Maps or Apple Maps – as a GPS to find a hidden geocache. The Cub Scouts then headed out in small teams of 2 or 3 (with their parent’s phones!) to test their skills at finding four caches hidden throughout the property. Each cache held a piece of a puzzle that, once assembled, gave the coordinates of the final 5th cache. All the teams completed the course and found prizes waiting for them inside the last cache! Troop 1 did a great job preparing the activity, hiding the caches, and helping the scouts be successful. Geocaching is such a fun, rewarding, and accessible activity that hopefully many of our families will continue to have fun with it for years to come. A special thanks to the administration at Conant for letting the Cub Scouts use the property!
