Cub Scout Uniform Guide
Welcome to Pack 1 Cub Scouts. It's great that your family is joining us on this adventure. Here, we are going to cover the basics of the Cub Scout Uniform, so you know what to get. Wearing a uniform is an important part of Scouting, as it is a constant reminder to each Cub Scout of his commitment to the ideals and purposes found in the Scout Oath and the Scout Law.

What do I need?
-
Cub Scout Shirt. Blue for Tiger - Bear and Tan for Webelos and Arrow of Light. If joining as a Tiger, or when buying your tan shirt, we always recommend buying a size or 2 larger, so you don't need to replace it. It will make a nice memento when your scout is looking back on their cub scouting days.
-
Hat, Neckerchief, and Slide. Each rank your Cub Scout works on, they will have a corresponding neckerchief and slide of the appropriate color/design. If you don't want to purchase, there will often be some available as hand-me-downs from previous years.
-
Belt. The belt is important, because this is where they are going to display all their belt loops they earn. This is how they proudly show off their achievements!
-
Pants and Socks. Although not required, pants and socks can tie the uniform together nicely, and really let your scout show their Cub Scout spirit!
-
Book. Each rank has a book that goes along with it. The book has a list of all of the adventures you can complete on your way to earning that rank, including both required and optional adventures.
Where to get the uniform?
-
Uniform Swap. Not all families want to hold onto past years uniforms, so they graciously donate them back to the pack as part of our Uniform Swap. Come to our first meeting, and see what others have donated. Joined after the meeting, no problem. Just talk to one of our leaders, and they will let you know what we have.
-
Scout Stores. There are a few Scout stores, and stores that sell Cub Scout supplies.
-
BSA Scout Shops - these are often the best places, because not only do they carry all the necessities, they often offer sewing services as well. There are scout shops in Woburn, Milton, and Southborough.
-
Other stores - there are several general stores that sell Cub Scout supplies. Moore Lumber in Shirley and Maynard Outdoor Store both carry Cub Scout supplies.
-
-
Online. at www.scoutshop.org, you can find everything your scout will need. Go to the Cub Scout section here.

What patches do I need?
See diagrams to the right for the different patches and where they go on your uniform. The pack will provide all new families with the patches they need.
